The Beauty of the Caspian Coast
Maikin Kurgan (43rd km) → Blue Bay (the Devil's Finger) → Saura (lake) and 1 more stop

Maikin Kurgan is a rocky stretch of Caspian shore 70 kilometres from Aktau, known locally as "kilometre 43". Cliffs stand over clear water, shell beaches line the coast and the sea panorama is at its strongest at sunset.
Maikin Kurgan is a stretch of Caspian coast with a striking relief and wide sea views. Despite the name, it is neither an archaeological site nor an ancient burial: the toponym stuck to a rocky shore that locals know as "kilometre 43".
The coastline is shaped by cliffs, rocky outcrops and shell beaches. In calm weather the water is so clear that every stone is visible several metres down. The clifftops open a broad panorama, at its best at sunset when the light brings out the texture of the rock.
The spot is close to the city and features in almost every one-day coastal route. There is no infrastructure — water, shade and food come with you.

Driving here yourself requires four-wheel drive and a water supply: there are no fuel stations or services on the route.
