Snake Cape is a stretch of Caspian shore with grottoes and arches in layered limestone. The sea shows through stone "windows", and at sunset the sun drops straight into the opening.
Snake Cape is a shore 90 kilometres from Aktau where water and wind have carved grottoes, arches and see-through "windows" into layered limestone. The escarpment runs along the beach for kilometres, its strata reading like a cross-section of geological history.
The grottoes open straight onto the sea: from inside you see the sandy shore and the horizon, and at sunset the sun sets exactly in the stone opening. It is one of the most photographed points on the coast.
The rock is soft and crumbles in places, so nobody lingers under the vaults or walks near the edge above. The beach nearby is gentle — people often stop here for a swim.
